It’s that time of the year again and as we move closer towards the end of November, we can no longer say it’s too early to start thinking about Christmas.Unless your name’s Scrooge.
But even Scrooge would be tempted by the array of festive things you can do in Croydon for Christmas without spending any money at all.Christmas is often associated with spending far too much money and while we often do splash out, there are ways of getting into the spirit for free.
1. Explore Croydon’s Christmas market
Where: North End Road
It’s returning for another year on November 28.There’ll be over 30 festive chalets to have a look at and get some Christmas gift inspiration from.
2. Get all festive at the Christmas Fair at Croydon Minster
Where: 21 North End Road
It’s free admission to this Christmas-y fair on Saturday November 30.There’ll be stalls, cakes, a tombola, games and refreshments, which you will have to pay for.
3. Chill out at BoxPark

Where: 99 George Street
Ok so it would cost you money to buy food and drink at Boxpark but there’s nothing making you spend.Gather some mates together and chill out among all the other festive revellers.
4. Wrap up and enjoy a walk in Wandle Park
Who’s to say you can’t enjoy a walk in the winter?Just wrap up and maybe take a flash full of a hot drink with you. It feels great to get out in the fresh air, even if it’s fresher than you’d like.

7. Build a snowman
Where: Various parks
Ok so this one is a bit dependent on the weather, but loads of forecasts are suggesting it will snow in London before 2019 is up.So if it does snow, head to an open space like Hutchinson’s Bank, or wherever is near to you, and get inventive with your snow people.
If it doesn’t snow, then it’s probably still going to be freezing so just stay in and make your own mulled wine from a recipe like this one .
